Cowee School Ropes Course
A unique aspect to the curriculum at Cowee School is the Macon Outdoor Developmental Education (M.O.D.E.) Ropes Course.  Construction and use of the ropes course began over twelve years ago.  Originally intended for elementary aged students, the course is now used by a wide variety of students and community groups.

The purpose of the M.O.D.E. ropes course is to facilitate cooperation, problem solving and communication in an outdoor setting.  It is hoped that skills learned and improved in this setting, will carry over into school, family and community life.  Small groups of six to ten participants take on the unique challenges of each of the fourteen course elements (stations).  An important aspect of the activity is the group processing that occurs following the completion of each element.
